[Tutorial]Encoding with Real Producer 10
Hi guys,
For all guys obsessed with DivX encoding, have a look at Real producer 10 Basic.
Download @ www.real.com
I found it much improved over the last version and there is new "two pass encoding" which gave me excellent results(quality/size ratio) at 450kbps
Here is my test result for video CD's
1.At 450 Kbps,a 24 Mb file(DAT or MPG) reduces to 8 MB(retaining appreciable viewing quality)
2.At 350 Kbps,a 24 MB file(DAT or MPG) reduces to 6 MB(Just a little drop of quality that at 450kbps but managable)
In short RP10 gives 3MB/min video equilant to DivX 5MB/min for a 10MB/min source MPG/DAT file.
Haven't try with DVD's but teri_to bhai has and he has confirmed that with DVD's too RP10 is doin fine at 450kbps(much better than divx with reduced file size)
Downers:
1.Two pass encoding is little slow(for me atleast, must be faster at faster PC's)
2.Advanced options are disabled in free version(like cropping, resizing a video etc.)
3.You can't add logo over real video since no logo filter is included(teri_to bhai added logo successfully over real video using advance video encoding script based s/w avisyanth but guess that will be too much for newbies)
To moderators,
Plz move this to help forums once enough feedback is generated.
I will continue to try out new features and update it as often and offcourse teri_to bhai will add his expert comments.
Anyways, here is small basic tutorial, with inputs from teri_to

This is how real producer 10 looks like
Load the source mpg/avi/dat through browse button
..............
-
Next are encoding parameters
Click on audience button in the outpite side,it looks like

Clear all the default enteries(16kbps,20kbps,34kbps) using either bin button or hitting delete thrice.
Select 450kbps VBR(variable bit encoding) and pass it into the audience job using "arrow" as shown.

You can use one pass encoding too by unchecking two pass encoding (Recommend to stick to two pass)
Select the audio settings as shown.
Close the box.
..............
-
Now its turn to set filter, click "video filter" to get a filter window like this
Use settings as shown.

Thats it.
Click encode button to start the encoding process.
The output file will be saved at the original location of the source file(default) or you can choose a different location.

This is how advanced settings for 450kbps VBR looks like, unfortuanetly most of the functions are disabled in this basic version.
But then serial/crack for Real Producer plus 10 wouldn't be that difficult to find.

Thats all,more later.
Happy encoding.

Nice tutorial, but how does a different program give different results? I don't know much about how encoding works but shouldn't the same codec follow the same algorithm of compression?
I need a new sig

Looks like a great tutorial
Though I'm not a big fan of real player, I might give it a try real soon to test the results.

Dam cool tutorial challenge bro

veey good explained tutorial challenge
just one thing i want to clarify here:
the bitrate is not the absolute measure of quality, actually even in small bitrate same quality can be produced & optimum will be the lowest one leading smaller size. rmvb may do automation but can't choose least & most accurate bitrate value. a simple rule of measuring bitrate would be 'Higher for high motion pic & lower for low motion pic'. now experience will give user the idea ab'ut choosing exact values but the above rule will always hold good.
